Performance

IndieCork Festival, The Guesthouse, Shandon, Cork, Ireland. 10 October 2019.

Description

As part of the IndieCork Festival, a group of media artist converged on The Guesthouse in Shandon to perform the works of Scott Walker. A packed house witnessed Tony Langlois, Harry Moore, Danny McCarthy, and John Byrne play in various permutations, against the projections of Natasha Bourke and Max Le Cain.

Mostly invisible, I mixed the sound for the evening and performed my composition “Engel 21 (For Scott Walker)”.

Later we learned that John Byrne was presented the IndieCork Music Award:

“His festival performance in Angel was a bold, witty and spirited reinterpretation of Scott Walker’s original compositions. This award is also made in recognition of John’s long and steadfast contribution to the musical life of Cork; as a performer, as a DJ and, through his role in the publication of rare recordings, as an archivist of the city’s intangible cultural heritage.”
